Consumption manual

Psilocybin
Microdosing

We believe in the power of natural medicines to help you explore your wounds and turn them into an opportunity for evolution.

What is a microdose?

A psilocybin microdose is barely one tenth of what is consumed in a ceremonial-therapeutic dose (between 200 mg and 300 mg). It produces no noticeable effects when you take it, so it doesn't interfere with your ability to carry out your daily activities.

Although it's common to think the effect is only felt on consumption days, it's worth paying attention to the rest days between doses too: it keeps working there.

Dosing frequency

Protocols like Fadiman's exist, but in our clinical experience we've found an equally effective and easier way to sustain the habit: three capsules per week, always with a rest day between doses.

The rest days give your body time to process and eliminate the last dose, ensuring the next one delivers its full benefits.

Why no more than 3 per week? The body quickly builds tolerance to psilocybin. Daily use makes its effect fade and the benefits you're after are lost.

Treatment duration

Cycles of 3 consecutive months are recommended, followed by a pause of about 15 days before resuming.

What time of day?

Initially it's recommended to take the microdose on an empty stomach, so you can clearly detect the sensations it produces. If you feel strong, unpleasant sensations, try taking it after breakfast or lunch — that is, on a full stomach. If you enjoy the sensations on an empty stomach, you can keep taking it that way.

Keep in mind this is only an initial recommendation: what matters most is listening to your body. As the treatment progresses, find the best time of day for you. To be clear: these strong sensations will never reach the level of a macrodose — a full psychedelic journey.

Boost your process

Based on real therapeutic processes, these are the habits that most increase the treatment's effectiveness.

  • Set an intention

Being clear about why you're doing this treatment helps you remember your purpose every time you take a dose. Reflecting beforehand on what changes you want to make and which areas of your life you want to improve makes it easier to find solutions and take advantage of the moments of clarity psilocybin offers.

  • Reflective journaling

Psilocybin offers moments of tranquility and clarity. Writing in a journal about how you feel each day during the regimen helps measure its therapeutic potential —which varies from person to person— and gain clarity or a fresh perspective on your situation or the reason for the treatment.

  • Exercise

Regular physical exercise and psilocybin can have a similar effect on the body by activating serotonin receptors — an activation that is very beneficial for people experiencing anxiety and depression, since this neurotransmitter helps regulate mood and reduce stress.

  • Meditate

Psilocybin already brings moments of serenity and mental clarity; meditation amplifies these even further, allowing you to better understand your situation and connect fully with the present moment.

  • Healthy eating

A healthy diet reduces anxiety and depression, since the gut produces much of your serotonin. Eating foods rich in tryptophan, omega-3s and antioxidants —nuts, fish, vegetables and fruit— improves well-being; avoiding sugar and ultra-processed foods is key to emotional balance.

  • Time in nature

It reduces anxiety and depression by lowering cortisol and boosting serotonin and endorphin production. Walking in a park, gardening or simply breathing fresh air promotes relaxation. At least 30 minutes outdoors a day is recommended.

  • Practice gratitude

Every day, write down three things you are grateful for, big or small. Expressing gratitude —in a journal or out loud, even consciously saying "thank you" to others— trains your mind to appreciate the good. Practicing it before bed improves well-being and strengthens emotional bonds.

  • Sleep and rest

During sleep the brain processes emotions, reduces cortisol and balances neurotransmitters like serotonin. To sleep better, avoid screens before bed, build a relaxing routine and limit caffeine: good rest amplifies the benefits of the microdose.

  • Conscious breathing

It reduces stress, improves focus and balances emotions. Sit comfortably, close your eyes and inhale and exhale slowly through your nose: count 4 on the inhale, hold for 2 seconds and exhale on 6. Repeat for 5-10 minutes, ideally in a quiet space.

  • Positive social connection

We are built to connect. Authentic relationships bring support, joy and a sense of belonging; sharing experiences, laughter and vulnerability builds trust. On the microdosing path, these connections illuminate your inner discoveries and remind you that you're not alone.

  • Pair it with Lion's Mane

It's the classic complement to the process: lion's mane is taken in the morning, every day, and lays a sustained groundwork of clarity for the microdose to work on. Since it needs no cycles, it carries on through your pause days. You'll find its full guide in our Lion's Mane manual.

What does it feel like?

Putting these sensations into words is complex, but based on what people have shared in therapy, these are the ones you may perceive:

Pleasant

Moments of peace and tranquility, introspection, empathy when relating to others, ease in enjoying the present moment, self-confidence, mental clarity, ease of concentration and stretches of steady productivity.

Uncomfortable

You may feel slight dizziness (never to the point of destabilizing you), nausea, and mild anxiety if you don't flow or let yourself be carried by the microdose's effect.

How to handle them? The best approach is to let yourself be carried by the effect and simply flow with it: stay aware of the sensations, allow yourself to enjoy them, relax your body and breathe consciously and steadily. By consciously going with the sensations, you get a richer, more meaningful experience.

Everything people ask in therapy

Is psilocybin addictive?

No. Because the body builds tolerance to psilocybin very quickly, physical addiction to mushrooms isn't possible. In fact, daily consumption will only cause you to stop getting the benefits and your body to stop recognizing the substance.

What do our capsules contain?

Each capsule contains 200 mg of dried, powdered mushrooms only — no other added ingredients.

What mushroom species do we use?

We use psilocybe cubensis, in a common or exotic variety depending on the product.

Can I take a macrodose in the middle of a microdosing treatment?

Yes. In that case we recommend leaving a 5-day gap before the macrodose so your body fully processes and eliminates the last microdose, and waiting another 5 days after the macrodose before resuming the microdosing treatment.

What's the best way to handle these sensations?

It's best to let yourself be carried by the effect and simply flow with it. That means staying aware of the sensations you're experiencing and allowing yourself to enjoy them, while relaxing your body and breathing consciously and steadily. By consciously going with the sensations, you can have a richer, more meaningful experience.

Can psilocybin be detected in drug tests?

Standard drug tests don't screen for psilocybin or psilocin. However, some less common analyses can detect these alkaloids. Those tests are more thorough but also more expensive, so they're only used in situations where mushroom use could be an issue.

What's the right way to store microdoses?

Keep the bottle in a cool, dark place — heat and light degrade psilocybin, the mushrooms' main active compound.

How long do microdoses keep their potency?

As long as they're stored in a cool, dark place, they can last more than a year without losing their properties, since the mushrooms are fully dried and powdered, which aids preservation.

What age can you start microdosing?

This treatment is intended exclusively for adults who consciously decide to start it, with a clear therapeutic purpose and, whenever possible, professional guidance. We do not recommend or promote its use in children or adolescents: anything outside conscious adult use must always involve the evaluation of a qualified health professional.

Contraindications

Read these carefully before starting any treatment.

Antidepressants

This is the one true contraindication: mixing psilocybin with antidepressant medication can cause serotonin syndrome. If you want to stop the medication to start microdosing, do it through a gradual, supervised tapering process.

  • Alcohol — mixing it with psilocybin isn't recommended, not because it's harmful to the body, but because alcohol tends to cut psilocybin's effect, since both substances are processed by the liver.

  • Caffeine — mixing it with psilocybin causes no harm to the body, but in some cases, depending on the person, caffeine's stimulating effect may add a feeling of anxiety.

  • Cannabis — mixing with marijuana causes no harm to the body, but since it has a stronger immediate effect, it can make it hard to identify psilocybin's own effects and sensations; that's why we don't recommend it in a conscious, intentional consumption process.
